DeRosa Professional SS build

  • Need some help / advice pls..

Just bought a De Rosa Professional frame / forks on a bit of a impulse.. My thinking was to build it up as a SS with some Marvic Ksyrium Elite S wheels I have. They're not exactly in keeping with the frame but should be ok after i de-sticker them. They have a Shimano freehub on them so I'm guessing a spacer kit would work ok?

I was thinking 1/8 chain and 70-75 gear inches

Most of the below I've found on velosolo.
    Andel (S*rly) Cro-Mo Singlespeed Cog - 17t
VeloSolo Singlespeed Cassette Hub Spacer Kit Anodized - Black
    Miche Steel 12t Lockring

FSA Gimondi Track and Singlespeed Chainset - silver - 170mm/ 46T (will this fit the Italian BB?)

    MKS Sylvan Road Pedals
    Kalloy 27.2mm Seatpost
    Saddle - not sure
    1" threaded Headset ?
    Quill stem (silver)
Nitto Noodle Aluminium Alloy Drop Handlebar
Tektro Aero R200A/RL340 Drop Bar Brake Levers - black hoods.

Brakes I'm confused about.. I'd like to get some modern calipers on there (maybe Campag Veloce 10), but don't really want to do any drilling? brake drop?

Does this sound alright, or have I got it totally wrong !?
Another option would be a period Campag groupset, but really I fancy a simple SS build atm.

    Cheers

  • Here is the fork.. you reckon I can fit a modern recessed caliper on there?

  • Yes, there shouldn't be any problem fitting modern brakes there.

Such a nice frame, it almost seems a shame to singlespeed it. But it's better ridden than not.

  • yeah.. I'm being talking into a Campag Athena 11 build. could be the way to go.
