It ain't too hard, make sure it's in line with the chainrings and just clears the big one by about 1-2mm, adjust the limit screws so that the L screw leaves the chain just not rubbing when in the big cog at the rear and small at the front and still shifts down easily. Adjust the H screw so that the chain is just not rubbing when in the small at the rear and the big at the front, then get the tension on the cable right with some trial and error, it should shift up and down easily, if you get it so it's tight when in the small cog but still resting on the L screw and not on the cable, it'll be about right.
