Just won this 56cm Fort Track frame for a steal at £102, one of the downsides of setting the listing to end on a weekday afternoon.

The Raleigh track frame is amazingly still straight - it is one of 17 originally made none of which were sold to the general public – its rarer than a Cinelli Laser – and extremely special – its exactly what Reg Harris used to win the world champs and was used by a handful of other world class riders back then with world champ wins. I would not expect it to be bought by somebody wanting to use it on the street… When will you find another for sale? I do not know of any others sold in the last ten years, several are still in the Raleigh collection either at Brooklands or in the Nottingham Industrial museum. That leaves very few out there… A Raleigh track frame of this period is one of the holy grails of track bikes. The top tube dents are part of its history. And if someone wanted a perfect frame a new top tube could easily be fitted though in my opinion I think it would detract rather rather add…

Only 17 made, pretty rare indeed and the fact that Raleigh keeps quite a few of them and the others are in museums is quite a testament to these frame and I agree with hilary on not replacing the top tube.
I love classic cars and bikes, aint got either YET but there is a shift on preserving barns finds and classics/vintage in the condition they were found and not restoring them, keeps the history intact.

Pretty sure your Dolan will be a classic when the next polo trend emerges

O'rly?
Here's a bit more on keeping it as it is. I collect coins, I'll never polish up a coin I find, it remains 'as it is' condition. One of the best looking ones is one I got from someone who picked it up from a riverbed, still some bits of mud on it and I kept it that way.

these things are more of a granny porn for me, not into that yet
didn't mean to hurt anyone's feelings on this, but things that stand out - they, well, stand out, in more ways than one -

....price is certainly fair in my opinion, speculation I know but if provenance could be proven as one of Reg Harris's own frames you could add another £4000 at least and it would be snapped up straightaway at any auction!
