allow it
he's also repainted the whole place

Not sure what you mean--the tag game or the buildings?
Yes to the former, no to the latter. :(
Save the building I meant. No cracks in this game :)
[But nice one for getting it, obvs]I think it's really sad they're going to pull it down. The whole thing seems a little fishy, that crack was first seen on Friday night, then plans to demolish it were already in place by the next morning, as were the two Giant Cranes. Can't imagine what that's like as a resident.

The arson definitely was fishy, as is the way of arson. I believe that when buildings have become structurally unsound, they have to be pulled down right away. I think this site is within the Crossrail 2 safeguarding corridor, so that any developer isn't going to be able to build anything very big on it. I doubt it's foul play. It could well be subsidence related to HS1, which runs underneath.

This is pretty easy if you know where it is, though.
it's also pretty easy if you don't, thanks to the forementioned clue!

Fair enough.

and possibly the deep excavations next door for the new Travelodge building... :)

Yeah, I think that had more to do with it.
Pulling it down quickly isn't surprising, the road needs to be closed until they've dealt with it and if you don't deal with these things they can cause more damage/potential danger.
I was working from home last Friday so I had my first lunch from Raw Duck, an excellent 'dirty bird' sandwich. Later that day it was closed for good :(

Old:

The remnants of the former Gibbons department store in Amhurst Road, Hackney Central. Partly destroyed by arson years ago, now number 1 has developed structural problems and is going to be pulled down in a little while. Numbers 3 and 5 may survive, but it's not clear yet.

Another one in an occasional series of strong colour contrasts. A clue (for the eagle-eyed) is in the picture. This is pretty easy if you know where it is, though.
All that Terex / Demag hardware renders me agog. That is all.
Thank you.

Thanks, Nick, I got that completely wrong, then. I thought it was number 1 that was mainly at risk, when it's number 5. A bad thing to happen on any account.

Rep me, biatch. :)

reflecto-clue?
I didn't aim for a reflecto-clue--what's in the picture (and inside the windows) should suffice, I should think.

This will be a nice excuse for a lunch time ale, even if someone gets it before that. Any recommendations?
-
• #13639
No recommendations, but when I tagged it the pub wasn't open for some reason--perhaps because they were just removing the scaffolding outside. I'd meant to leave some money behind the bar for a pint for the successful tagger, but was foiled. So you may not find it open, either, at least for a day or so.

old: Wenlock Arms, a real hint of London changing, it's now an isolated corner of the building site in the background...
New: Nothing special about this one except I love the architectural style, having lived on the coast.
Clue (in honour of aruacaria): Sounds like Channel 4 news presenter has something to tell us...(5,4)

Aha - the old Guru-Murthy Information flats.

Goddammit too slow. Now do I go for new tag or ale? Decisions, decisions.

btw, a belated thanks to KT Bee for that wheely fun xmas present last year. Sorry it took me so long to work out how to use it, worth the wait though!

Has anyone been inside Record Detector? It seems interesting.
No. And you won't get inside if you go there either. It is no longer interesting.
Bloody cold ride for nothing...#csb -
• #13646
Come on, just because they don't have a ping-pong table doesn't mean it's not interesting there. :)
-
• #13647
Ooh. I know one at last! I rented a secret underground lair near there...
-
• #13648
I found three good records in the whole of Chingford (which I bought), but my hope was that, that tiny shop next to the station would have some old stock of high quality tapes.
Getting bored of TTTs btw.
Current: I can find those horizontal white lines all over the place, but not that vertical one. -

Old Tag:
Mytre Court, John's Mews, Bloomsbury.
I have no idea what it has to do with the crypic clue.
It's next to The Duke (of York) pub, where I once got a free pint as I waited for the RAC man to fix my stranded motorcycle after being forced to vacate my secret underground lair (round the corner) at short notice.New Tag. From one underground lair to another.
il n'est pas rien de particulier.
Looks like you were in the process of stealing their Christmas wreath.
