I would agree that you get a lot more time and space from drivers and especially other motorcyclists, but you share the same vulnerabilities as any other two-wheeled vehicle - you do have the power and brakes to help keep yourself out of traffic flow and in open space though.
I have been impressed with many car drivers on the A roads in the UK. They are very good at moving over within the lane and letting you pass quickly and safely. Drivers in NZ seems a lot more reluctant to let you pass.
