  • I bet it was Aggie crashing into Victor right? HTFU Victor, you have some serious polo scheduled for you in 2014!

Also, Haymakers v. Joe, Nik and Sean is on this Friday!

Naaahh, he took himself out in flying style. My paws were well off everyone today.

  • After 45 min?

    Christ.

    +1

  • Sounds boring.

LOTS of passing back in to thier own half from both teams.

  • Beagles Winky

  • Yeah I'm fine. I have a bit of pain on my shoulder. I think I had a subluxation (it happened before ... ). Heading to the GP now. Hopefully I'll only need a bit of rest and I'll be back soon. Don't worry beagle! ;)

  • Epic game, loads of fun, we demand a rematch.

  • It was Rubix Pubes 17 - Westway - 11 I believe (someone's got a full list of scorers somewhere). Awesome game, lots of fun.

Big thanks to Louis for his excellent ref/sub work and to Beth and Jackie for reffing/score keeping.

  • Score for Pubix vs Westway?

Beagle if you've lost that Official Commemorative London Bike Polo League Referee's Log And Score Book, let me know, I've got another one.

Although obviously it doesnt have all the scores from all those games in it.

  • Oh thanks Phil. 17-11 is a score you can be proud of, the Pubes are a good team.

  • Sorry Phil, final score was 19-11.

    Quick write up, stats below.

The first chucker started with Westway looking like a team who've been playing together for years (how long has it been?), with some brilliant passing and moving and a very good rotation of goalkeeper. Rubik's looked individually better, but weren't linking up as well and with individual players getting caught out because they expected their team mates to do other things. There were also a lot of pretty stunning shots from both sides, bouncing off wheels or cones. But at the half way point of the first chucker, it was 4-1 to westway. There wasn't really a noticeable change in either teams play, except for maybe Dave placing his shots a bit more accurately (scoring 4 in a row), after the last goal in the last two minutes from Victor the first chucker ended 5-5.

The first half of the second chucker started in a similar fashion with westway's team game keeping the skills of rubiks in check, after about 7 minutes of trading goals it was 8 all. It was after this that Rubiks started to take hold of the game with 6 unanswered goals from all players, ending the 2nd chucker 14-8.

The last chucker started pretty slowly, with both teams scoring a goal each in the first couple of minutes, and then a couple more from Rubiks in the first half, but the most notable event was Victor charging back to catch Dave and loosing control of his own bike, going flying and landing in a heap. I may have been a bit harsh not blowing the whistle, but westway did have an opportunity to call time out but due to lack of experience or lack of communication they cleared it, finally resulting in DT scoring. I'd actually only gone down to Ref as I said I would before and i remembered what it was like playing without a ref. So I was pretty surprised to be asked to sub, but Victor was addement that he couldn't play on and was saying the options were to forfeit or for me to play. so I got ready. I can't really comment on the rest of the chucker.

Man of the match was me. :-)

  • Nice one Louis, thanks for coming down and reffing

  • Great game, specially the first chukker when we were able to keep the score equal!

Big thanks for the refs in general and specially to Louis for sub me the last minutes!

  • nice game thanks Louis for ref and sub

  • I'm in to ref for tonight. Will there be people there early for throwins?

  • Loving the format. It made me realise how inadequate a 10/15 minute game is!

  • great, thanks Ben.

I can't get there before 7 but I think Aidan and Jamie are aiming for earlier

  • Be there about 6.30, 7 latest.

    Bring on the league. Stoked.

  • Doesnt look like much in the way of throwins then. Will be there for 7 on the road bike

  • I don't know about the final score for westway against rubix, but due to an injury, I subbed in and scored a goal!

    Equal top scorer! Woo!

Victor, happened in the last 8 minutes, both teams agreed.

If both teams agreed, we'll let this game stand. But subs cannot be on another league team. They must be non-league players. In the future, this rule must be enforced. I understand that an injury is a special and difficult situation. But if at all possible in such as situation, the sub must be a non-league player.

And, no, Louis, you don't get this goal as part of your stats.

    Totally agree.

subs cannot be on another league team. They must be non-league players.

Totally fine, just thought that as no one mentioned it when maddie subbed it wasn't a rule this year.

  • Oh, I didn't notice that Maddie subbed for another team. I guess if it is an injury and the other team agrees then we can go with it -- but this must be a last resort. If there is any non-league player around to sub that should be the first choice. Thanks.
