Serotta Legend titanium CX bike

  • I have been working on this Serotta Legend titanium CX build for some time now and it is slowly coming together.

My goal for this build is a bombproof do-it-all-bike, e.g. something that will do mountain bike trails, CX and road racing. I am still on the lookout for some nice wheels, but other than that it almost finished.

  • Build list for the time being:

Frame - Serotta Legend CX custom (supposedly 2009)
    Fork - Traitor Cycles Claymore
    Groupset - SRAM Force
    Brakes - TRP CR950
    Cockpit - Deda 35
    Seatpost - Deda Zero 100

  • Nice frame. Ugly: forks / Brakes / seatpost.

  • Straight bladed carbon fork would obvs be lovely but they are tricky to come by second hand.

What does the Traitor fork weigh in at?

  • The brakes/forks/seatpost definitely won't be to everybody's liking, hell I didn't even like them at first. That said, in real life they do seem to work somehow.

Here are some shots of the frame without parts on it.

  • Oof!

  • This frame is immense. Looking forward to seeing how this turns out.

  • you cant go wrong with an american classic wheelset

  • Almost finished! All it needs are a rear brake cable and bar tape. Hopefully I can put it through its first paces in the coming weekend.

  • Forks, post, stem, saddle... ):

    And open pros for CX?

  • I thought open pros were used a lot for CX? Dunno.

The deda stuff looks painfully bad. As do the white brakes.

I would have gone with some 3T Arx. The black stuff. Post, bars, and stem. plain black brakes, and a carbon fork.

Still, looks like an amazing ride.

  • Open Pros are pretty much ideal for CX (not too heavy, cheap and bombproof). The saddle is a no brainer, seeing as it is hands down the best one I have ever ridden (function over form as you wish). I actually quite like the white brakes. The logos on the Deda parts on the other hand have got to go. Depending on whether or not the Deda 35 bars do what they are supposed to do (superb comfort for big guys like me) I will black out the stem and seatpost or replace everything all together.

  • I did'nt mind the look of the saddle. Plus plenty of folk just swear by them. But it clashed massively with the white/red/black of the deda stuff.

Still. Thats all asthetics. It does look like an awesome ride like I said.

  • That looks like a bike that was built simply to have the living shit ridden out of it. Love it.

  • Looking good. Gearing looks high for CX though.

  • This is more of a do-it-all bike, as supposed to a CX bike, which explains the gearing. I use my current CX bike mostly for mountain bike trails, which is why I wanted low gearing. At the same time I also plan to use this bike on the road, hence the high gearing.

  • A 50/34 with 11-32 casstte is good for dual purpose. The range in the 50 covers all tarmac use, and the 34 covers you for trail. Massive jumps. But I slip into SS mode pretty quickly. So it nevered bothered me.

  • This frame is so nice. I can't bear that seatpost though, looks so out of place. I can live with the rest.

I lie I wouldn't have gone for the brooks either, but each to their own!

  • That looks like a bike that was built simply to have the living shit ridden out of it. Love it.

^This. Ti frames need a characterful build instead of the usual matchy-blingy.
White brakes + Brooks = yes.
