Any suggestions on how to restore a .vhd backup of the OS.
My windows home server 2011 seems to have packed up and won't boot. I can access the drive fine using a Ubuntu live CD and everything seems ok so I imagine it's related to some update or something.
I tried using the Acronis True Image trial but that doesn't seem to like the backup file, possibly because it was created by Windows rather than True Image.
I seem to be able to mount and navigate the .vhd file fine on my other PC so I don't think it's corrupt.
A method using live CD/ubuntu would be preferable but if needs be I can stick the drive into another windows machine
