i'm riding schwalbe durano 26x1.35 (35) now, which may be a bit slippy, but i'm surprised no one's mentioned the marathon plus as a good choice. 26x1.35 a bit heavy, a bit pricey, but great compound, super puncture proof, and last forever. i had a pair on my polo bike for 3.5 years and probably 10,000km and only replaced them because i wanted lighter. i'd only just reached the blue strip and probably could have run them another year

Would be handy if you can find the actual external width somewhere. You should be ok to run any tyre that's equal to/greater than the exterior rim width, it seems quite popular to run 23c on 23mm rims is quite popular at the moment. Example is Velocity's marketing blurb:

With a wider footprint, the A23 allows for a more aerodynamic rim/tire combination when paired with a 23c tire. The tire profile mimics the characteristics of a tubular, gaining increased control and lower rolling resistance without the inconvenience of tubular glue or the dangers of irreparable roadside mechanicals.

Admittedly the ETRTO guidelines suggest you should run 37c on something with a 23mm interior width, but that was from 2007 or so.

Should I go for red or white? I'd get black but they are a whole 40g heavier and don't have the softer, grippier outside bit.

I'd say red, will look worse with your bike, but less grubby that the white after a week.

My bike is red under the stickers, and it is faster, but the paint left on the rims is white.
I'd join instead but this is an xmas present.

Grubby would also match, I think I'd prefer grubby white to clean.

Maxxis detonator are super light and have amazing grip. They tend to wear pretty fast though and they are flat prone.

Michelins wild run'r 1.1's look pretty good too. And they are light as a baby's fart. Will propably try them when I kill my maxxis.

Panaracer Ribmo 1.25 are pretty good. Light and puncture resistant but quite pricey.

+1 for RiBMo - especially when they wear a bit and that odd profile disappears!

Gator hardshell. Had the 32c wired version on my bike since may never had a puncture or lost much grip. Going to get some thinner Gatorskins (foldable) to save a bit of weight.
