Not sure you'll be able to wear the PTJ over a Brevet.
Yesterday it was 2 degrees celsius and I wore a craft extreme base layer under a PTJ, I did a tempo ride for and hour and a half and it was fine.
If you are going to plod or ride at a lower intensity then keep the softshell.
