• Unbelievable. Convicted for driving without insurance too, this man does not deserve to be in control of a 2 tonne vehicle, driving is a privilege not a right.

  • No insurance, double the speed limit, hit and run after killing a child and the shit-eater Ibrahim Waseem could be out in 10 months.

    "Justice"

  • What exactly is required to record a verdict of dangerous driving (I note this was 'careless')?

He was doing twice the speed limit ffs! And he hit a speed bump at 40 miles an hour! That seems dangerous to me.

  • But he was really sorry!

  • The judge's comments are terrible:

Clearly things can be said on both sides and it will not help the family to hear that the child was on the handlebars and that the older brother had been going down the road the wrong way.

They were bloody kids, 9 and 14. You can't balance the responsibilities of kids against adults, because *they're bloody kids*. One of the main reasons for 20mph limits in residential areas is... the presence of children. Logic not in the legal training for this particular QC, then.

  • There's a strong lesson being handed down here - if you recklessly kill people, you do run the risk of being mildly inconvenienced for a few months, perhaps even several. Quake, lawbreakers, tremble and quake.

    That poor family.

    exactly.

    EXACTLY.

  • And today it got worse - on appeal the scumbag had his sentence reduced to a year and will probably be out in half that. The pressing judge felt the need to point that the 9 year old victim, playing with his brother, wasn't even wearing a helmet.

  • If the kid had been on foot instead of a bike I imagine the sentencing would have been entirely different and much less lenient.

    Utterly disgusting.

The driver and judges involved don't deserve to be part of civilised society.

  • very sad news.

  • 20mph where applied is almost totally unenforced. Can't we all get behind Roadpeace and Living Streets and start pressuring police into actually enforcing it!?
