Repairing a Skinsuit

Has anybody had any success patching a lycra skinsuit? One of my lads got knocked off at the velodrome tonight and has the usual hole/burn in it.

I wondered if there was a way of patching it from the underside so that it could be used as a spare.

Is the damage extensive enough to replace a whole panel?

You'll probably need a decent overlocking sewing machine to make a join that'll cope with the stretch.

Could possibly replace the panel, any experience of costs for replacing a thigh panel?
