  • Had a feeling this might be a bit more universal. Glad to hear it is though. Sometimes the whole cycling world (and I'm a fringe dweller not a pro or anything) seems so momentum driven, so definite. People like 6pt and TricityB ride me off the road with their eyes closed. Amazing to think they are off line too.

tricitybendix wasn't really riding her bike, anyway, she got stuck in the toilet in Needham Market in 2011 and hasn't come out of there since.

  • I wasn't stuck! I was just having an accidental nap.

  • That's what they all say.

  • Admittedly I have started Strava'ing my commute when I ride in, because it's essentially a short ride (30 miles), but I find mileage challenges on Strava really motivating. I have no idea why, because I realise I get nothing out of it, but there is definitely a sense of satisfaction there for me.

Imagine this but with tricitybendix and a public toilet and you get the picture.

  • ^ Is that George Osborne?

  • Tom hanks no?

  • ^ Yes. Hmmm, I probably should have put a smiley at the end of the question :)

  • So do you do a 60 miles per day commute loop JB?

  • As usual, meaning is lost through the internet! It really depends on how I feel. If I'm tired, no, I'll get the train home, if I have energy to burn, then yes!

  • Try mountain biking.

£150 on a secondhand retro from www.retrobike.co.uk, a £50 cree led headlamp, £7 baggy shorts from Asda, and you're away. Darkness plus a fully-rigid or short-travel hardtail bike means that even relatively gentle trails can be fun and challenging.

Go straight from work, 6:30pm train to your home county of choice, arrive 7:30pm, ride for two hours, catch 9:30pm train home, be in bed by 11:30. No traffic and you could see some wildlife e.g. a shrew or fieldmouse.

  • ^ Is that George Osborne?

    T.Hanks for that.

  • Zero Mojo these days.

No commute because I'm unemployed, can't use my road bike because I'm trying to sell it with no-one interested in buying, dented my track bike superficially which is annoying, plus I've got no-where to go really, as most of my job applicationing is done online. I'm waiting for my new road bike to turn up, but it's running about 3 weeks late FFS! Absolute nightmare.

Plus I've got no money to buy a winter jacket, which I desperately need. The whole thing is real fucking frustrating.

  • Zero mojo too. My knees have been giving me grief on and off over the last couple of years, and it's getting to the point where every time I look at a bike I just think about burning kneecaps and I wonder whether it's worth it. Really need to go back to a physio, but the first one I went to was so fucking useless that it's really put me off the idea of spending money on a potential muppet.

    Bah.

  • Try Bluerip00. He is a good physio and a good guy. His thread offering services is here.

  • deffo highly recommend bluerip - got me back on the bike after breaking me collarbone and a couple of ribs. He's a cyclist himself and did a lot of physio work at the velodrome during the 'lympicks. I find that it's really helpful being able to describe the problems in cycling terms [e.g. my knees hurt at low cadence/ high gear] and have a physio know exactly what I'm talking about

  • I'm also very much looking forward to picking up the Serotta and riding it this weekend.

You may have misunderstood, this is the lack of mojo thread.

I used to do a daily ride to the job centre. Even if you do all your searching online, you could just go in as an excuse for a spin, use their computers for a bit and leave.

He is a very very good physio and I had treatment when he had to qualify for the Olympics. But during the Olympics he was mostly with the archers or something I seem to remember?

  • Seems like a lot of love for Bluerip. I'll give him a shout. Cheers all.

  • ^^ Listening to The Archers, whilst teaching Brad how to pedal better.

  • something about being back in the UK makes me not want to ride my bike.

Bike been tuned, new headset, jazzy winter gear in possession. Yet been trying all morning to coax myself out into Surrey and just can't bring myself to do it. I went for a spin on Thurs and encountered more arsehole drivers in an hour than I did in 3 months of riding in Italy, the roads are shit, it's cold, and it's damp and it's giving me the droop just thinking about mooching about on my tod.

Boo winter, boo UK, boo me.

  • This ... Except my bikes out of shape and there's a big bloody hole in my only long sleeved jersey.

  • HTFU, you bunch of whingers.
