  • Just came here to check up on all the other ones, hate having to see yet another one of these. RIP rider :(

  • This is awful news which has left me reeling - can't begin to imagine what the poor rider's family and friends are feeling. My heart goes out to them and all of those left behind.

  • RIP to the cyclist and sincere condolences to his family.

  • I feel hollow inside. I just cannot imagine how family and friends feel.. RIP rider.

  • Sincere condolences to this fellow's lived ones. A dreadful waste.

  • So very sad.

    Requiem in pace.

  • Desperately sad, heartbreaking news. My thoughts go out to the rider, their family and their friends - and to all of those affected in the recent past.

I really hope that the public in general does not become desensitised to hearing this type of tragic news, as I fear it will, and that something can be done to end this type of senseless and avoidable loss of life.

    Be safe everyone.

  • Numb. RIP

  • Unfortunately the 'top comments' on articles these deaths are invariably victim blaming. One I read today was something along the lines of 'probably on his mobile phone, smoking a cigarette or listening to music'.

  • This is just so sad. RIP Rider. One death too many.

    Ride safe guys.

  • Horrible. So close to home and a junction I use regularly. So sad, so needless.

Thinking of the bereaved of all the recent cases.

    Ride safe please everyone

  • RIP. Please take care everyone.

  • 6th in 2 weeks, very sad to hear.

This is what happens when you mix the relative anonymity of the internet, comment ratings, and a fundamental human desire to be popular amongst your peers. It inevitable tends towards a competition to see who can appeal to the most people, within people's limited attention spans of a sentence or two. Big problem.

    RIP rider.

  • RIP poor cyclist. So sad. Wish this would all stop.

  • RIP cyclist

^^It's the conflation of two different issues:

The annoying: Not well lit up/headphones/RLJ/ dark clothes/poor communication
    Vs
Potentially lethal: texting behind the wheel/failing to indicate before turning/not checking mirrors/belligerantly following cycle infrastructure/passing in unsafe places, too close.

Everyone needs to stop getting these two mixed up.

  • so much victim blaming on the DM its actually sickening

  • Oh dear I cycled pass there just before 2 and thought not much of it... I m feeling quite anxious now as it's my daily commute. RIP rider I am pretty sure our paths have crossed in the past.

  • Don't hug the kerb and check over your shoulder before you pass all junctions on your side of the road.

  • So hideous and so close to home.
    RIP fellow rider.

  • This is fucking ridiculous. I'm sick to the stomach. RIP rider. When will this shit stop?!

  • tears in my eyes - again.

thoughts and prayers for the rider, family and friends.

  • tears in my eyes - again.

    Dito.

  • So close to home and so scary. Reminds me why I always try to avoide walworth/camberwell road. RIP rider.

  • R.I.P.

    Horrible junction

  • R.I.P. Rider

My thoughts to all who knew and loved you.
