nice built, but two levers for one brake aren't that necessary imo
-
• #203
Two levers are necessary to ride on the hoods. But the Campag levers don't have return springs so then you either need to bodge a fix to stop the unused lever rattling around, or do it this way and cable them both up to the single brake.

watcha talkin bout, these are modern produced h+son archetypes with machined braking surface, and as far as i am concerned, these are exactly the "ceramics"
???
]
machined braking surfaces wear out - in my experience very quickly too but ceramic rims last for years and don't fade in the same way
but then again i brake a lot :) - bike looks beautiful ben!

Yeah I agree..if you put the Moots post in there, match it up with Moots forks :-)
Moots make forks?
-
• #206
^
Moots design them, but have Fork "partners" who make and finish the full carbon forks in the Moots satin bead blast finish. Used to be Alpha Q (?)Drat...mind if I ask what it sold for?
Already been in touch with the Retrobike seller...at +£10 above yours and a quoted £28 for int'l shipping it's a bit out of reach.
Sigh...
£60 posted. £28 seems expensive for posting something that weighs sweet FA! where are you based?

This. Unharmed came up with a nifty solution to stop rattling. I went with the J-Tec jobbie as other than riding the hoods, i like the option of being able to brake with either hand.

I made such a mistake reading through this thread.
Want custom titanium. 995 quid doesn't seem too bad all of the sudden...

where is this frame now? B'jammin are you still riding that beast?
-
• #209
Hey Fred! Yeah man, still here, and still riding it. Though it has to fight with the Tonic for ride time nowadays.
It's currently awaiting new forks (enves or alpha q) which I think will suit the OS tubing better than the wound ups. Has a lower longer moots stem and 3t ltd bars atm, but basically as pictured here,
moots stem and cinch post
phil seatpost collar
CK Ti Headset
Flite
DA 7701 w/Zen ring
Royce x Open Pro x EAI SS cog
Izumi super Toughness
WC Carbon Atac's
Record carbon levers, j-tech 2:1, sram caliper
Lizard Skin dsp tape
Nitto M194 SSB and Bar plugs/or 3T Ltd Ergosums - deciding... -

Finally got the Enve fork on the Burls. Took a while, as they don't turn up secondhand often, let alone with the steerer needed, so bit the bullet on a new pair. Still, it certainly deserved the investment. I might "tune it" as I'm not a massive fan of the logos, but they do ride like a dream. As strong a fork as the Wound Up, but definitely less road chatter. Also, the enve has a slightly larger clearance than the WU which means I could put the 28c Rivendell RT's back in use. Definitely a bonus with the current state of weather and roads.
Just need to fettle the seatpost shim, but it's pretty much as refined as I require...dare I say finsished.

They're keepers, TM! Got some plain grey ones at the bottom of the pile, but I'm loathed to get rid of them as they are great pedals and don't seem to frequent the secondhand market so much anymore.

Hah, is that a hint from the bike pimp? Actually, I've never tried them. I'd be keen to give them a go though, especially on the road bike as I like idea the double sided entry. As for riding fixed, Atac's were the first clipless system I tried and have had no reason to change. For work/commute duties, with a pair of sidi dom's the atacs seem the most practical for city riding and hopping on/off for the occasional shandy en route. That said the burls has more potential for distance and would be more suitable...so, you have a pair going, T?

where did you source the WoundUp's
-
• #222
It looks great.
What is the finish on the frame? Brushed?
-
• #223
Wound Ups were sourced from this very manor. Actually, they came up recently for sale again, iirc.
Frame is Brushed finished, hugo7
