  • Different wheelset and seta would be nice, spok does ruin it.

    Not sold on tape either.

  • He'll be changing the tape after he crashed and ripped it yesterday.

It's getting 34mm carbon clinchers in the new year, I'm also blacking out the rotors.

Probably, although it's not as damaged as your DSP was after that ride.

  • Some black amc 420s would suit better

  • They'd look really similar I reckon.

Not sure I can afford the amcs at the moment although you're right, I would rather them for the added security of not being on carbon wheels.

Edit: The carbon has an aesthetic advantage for me because the front isn't radial although I just realised this.

  • Low spoke count aero spokes and radial looks good though...

Second hand they go between 200-250, I sold a pair I painted for like 220 in great nick. was going to use on donubru but went for the tougher option with the phil/velocity. amc are light and smooth.

  • I'll look out for a pair then, also need to grab some keo 2 max carbons for it. Should look pretty nice after that, in the current guise it's so ugly but it still rides brilliant.

  • Just get destickered ellipses.

  • I considered it but decided not to for a couple of reasons that sound silly to most people but me.

    1. lockring threads

    2. They're heavier than I want

    3. They're common

    4. I don't think they look as nice

I've also contacted a couple of aliexpress sellers about getting 23mm wide and 34mm deep CX rims built onto track hubs.

  • Not sure low spoke count is good for someone with Indra's record. Although, saying that, it would mean less spokes to spear the shin bones.

Also, you'd be better off just ordering the rims separately and getting someone local to build them up for you.

I'm not sure, I'm pretty light and in honesty I only kill wheels when I'm on the big bike.

I've built a few wheels before just not keen on building on carbon, if I bought the chinese ones I'd get the mechanic to check them over properly, spoke tension etc.

  • You killed the wheel on your cracked Seta, non?

  • You killed the wheel on your cracked Seta, non?

    What cracked seta?

I put my foot through the wheel on my old one when the forks failed but that's the only time I've killed a wheel, still not quite sure how that happened.

  • You know, the last carbon bike you killed then swapped for a mielec with bonor. That seta. The one where the fork snapped and the spokes went through your legs. Not the brooklyn that you bent the chainstays and then swapped with Kamal for a FGFS bike.

    Indra 'FixehKillah' Ripper

  • Oh you mean the seta Gabe Killed, I got confused.

  • I've already asked if the helpful chinese will build track hubs on 38x23 rims or 38x20.5, no luck yet so let me know if any of them says 'yes'!

  • Seen those, will probably end up with them, should've said I tried to specify radial front (for no better reason than I like them!). Ta anyway!

  • Putting more stress on a crabon crincher.... I'd rather not ha.

  • Said it was for no good reason, which is why I tried to go for the stronger CX rim. Most chincarbon seems to be built up radial front and my road wheels have given no problems. I realise that a crossing pattern would be better for track stresses, but these are for road use on my Dolan, basically I want the practicality of clinchers and save the tri-spoke tubs for racing.

    PS: Pirrock!

  • Meh. The rim should be able to take the stress of radial lacing. If it can take the stress of added tension for drive side rear. So I cant see any reason not to go radial.

  • That's kind of cool for a lo pro conversion. Someone sell those?
