    this!

  • I hear Berlin is working on a sweet new 3 hockey court setup, which may host the German Champs, or possibly even the Euros.

  • Do you mean they have begun a project to construct a new facility, or they are getting approved access or improvements to a pre-existing facility?

  • Access, I believe

trying to boost numbers in brighton.

    Hey Robbie,

In Birmingham we hosted a beginners day and promoted it beforehand with flyers and stuff. Then we just played in the morning as normal and had beginners arrive a bit later. We picked up a couple of new players from that who then told their friends etc.. Might work out the same way in Brighton.

  • In my opinion if we stay with national champs, a 3 players from 3 country teams should choose one of the country and try only one time to qualify. They would have the choice to qualies in every of the 3 country...
If there is another solution (if we stick with national qualies, wich should be the case again), i would like to hear it...

  • Teams should declare a national affiliation before the EHBPC organise set allocations.

  • I agree with only beeing allowed to participate in one qualification but don´t think they should be given the right to chose what qualifier to participate in. If we go by the example of Dodi, Piks and Morgain, them playing in the hungarian qualifier would realistically be an easy qualification for them (not saying they would do it).

Until we don´t have an european association, either the hosting country should decide or mix teams should have to participate in the strongest qualification.

Of course provided that qualification for EHBPC remains through one time tournaments and not a series or something like that.

  • Dodi + Piks + Jo Pompon would be one crazy team.

If 3 players from 3 different countries do form a team, there should be a discussion amongst the EHBPC organising committee and the representatives from each country and then let the team know what the general consensus is. Pretty much depends on who are the players involved, 3 noobs from 3 different countries would be less of an issue than a super team of 3 brilliant individuals.

Agreed that in general a team should only try to qualify once but not so sure on the second point as the chosen country would actually be 'losing' a spot to a non domicile team made up of 3 strong players. Automatic spots are already pretty hard fought for as it is and I expect the subject of allowing a strong team with only a single player from the scene to play in the country's Euro qualifier to be hotly debated.

If no countries would allow the team to play in their qualifier, then the EHBPC could allocate an automatic spot at the expense of a slot from the wild card e.g. in professional tennis tournaments. Or in the case a country agrees to allow them to play in their qualifier, an additional spot will be added to that country's allocation.

  • Force them to enter the wild card?

    #notserious

  • Or they turn up at the wildcard...

I understand the need for a solution if no country wants to let a mix team participate in their qualifiers but surely giving an automatic slot or an additional spot to the country allowing that mix team to participate in their qualifier would only be considered for super mix teams and not "noob" ones which doens´t seem right to me.

  • I've always preferred the "qualify as a national team in a national qualifier" approach. And then form new super teams with any qualified players for the Euros (and then Worlds).

No-one enforces things anyway, but whilst we're discussing it...

  • Yeah, should only applies to super teams, noobz need not apply.

I actually did form such a team before for EHBPC 2011 with a Barcelona player and the other from Amsterdam and qualified from the wild card tourney.

  • Did you win that tourney with your super team, Ben?
