My son is doing his first track race in a couple of weeks time and I thought I may enter as well (novice league!) to give him a bit of moral support.
I bought a Felt TK3 a while ago but the stock drivetrain is 3/32. It has 48 x 15T (86.4") and the last time I rode it I span out a bit. I have read a few bits of advice and people seem to suggest 88" for novice track league riding.
The problem is I am struggling to find any reasonably priced 49T 144BCD 3/32 chainrings to give me 88"
Do you think dropping a tooth on the back would be too much of a step (going for 86.4 to 92.6")?

It is an indoor track.
