  • Last weekend I took part in the Ball Buster Duathlon, which the start/finish on Box Hill. The format is 8 mile (more like 7.7 or something) run, 24 miles bike and another 8 mile run. I entered for a bit of a different challenge to the usual stuff, and I plan(ned) to run Florence marathon in 2 weeks so it sort of fitted in with a bit of training I had done to try and get my body up to that sort of stress and mileage. My prep was pretty poor mainly as I took it as a training session rather than a race, but it was a good experience and I reckon if I do it again I can get sub 3 hours. It was also a bit cold and rained fairly hard from lap 2 of the bike until after I had finished. I was number 122.
    My legs are pretty sore now, which I put down to a lot of downhill sections, so will rest them until this weekend and see what shape I get in before trying to run Florence.
    I would recommend the BB, well run event, great helpers on the course, and it is run twice a year, one in the spring and one in the winter
