In a rare exception, I've banned william1984 for 3 weeks by his request. His MA was suffering.
If anyone sees an alias that is him, tell him to fuck off and work on his studies.
Out of interest, when you do this (or ban anyone) what exactly happens to them? I presume that they can still view the forum as a guest (obvs not private etc) or set up an alias? Or do you some magic to stop them getting anywhere near the forum.

^^ It's all bad enough. 3 deaths in a week is horrific.

He gets a message telling him to fuck off back to his study.
I'm well lovely.

As you responded here with another extraneous comment I'll reply to your comment elsewhere in which you had the audacity to accuse someone else of being a troll but don't acknowledge that you are...
If you says so.
If you are going to call someone a troll and use it as a pejorative term then you should define what it is.
The term is subjective. Wikipedia describes it as a person who sows discord, or otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.
By that definition everyone on LFGSS is a troll to some extent (and I'm OK with that).
But, if there were a ranking of trolls then surely it would need to be based on the amount of discord or disruption caused. Some people cause severe disruption and are swiftly banned, others cause minor disruption and are tolerated.
At which point, if severity doesn't count because those people have been banned, are the highest ranking trolls those who do the minor stuff the most frequently such that it accrues?
We all may think we don't create discord, but every time there is an ill-researched/naive post saying some silly, already answered, obvious, or containing a dangerous suggestion/recommendation... discord is created as people spent time reading such stuff and then need to respond to point out the flaws so that others do not follow that bad advice.
Thus we get our disruption, the flow of reading and interacting is broken... and yes, your posts, edscoble, make you a troll.
But it's OK, because I think the term is overly broad, subjective and I don't ban people just because they are trolls (as I said, nearly all of us are so I find it hardly pejorative)... I only ban the most extreme of trolls - those who really cause severe disruption and discordancy.
If you wish to disagree, build an argument and convince me otherwise. It's hard to argue that you don't create discord and disruption though... you've been doing that for years.

I don't delete rider down threads, and only merge.
The reasoning is that tweets went out to Twitter, and people following @lfgss for Rider Down tweets then follow the links.
The links for both threads should therefore exist, and they can only do so by NOT deleting the threads.
Instead I merge, and create a redirect from the thread that doesn't now exist to the one that does.
This has been mentioned before, and is now mentioned again.
You don't need to reply to every post you know.

Because it would be considered as tooting your own horn, hence why I never claim to be.

Did not know of it previously.
