It's mentioned online somewhere, which ones are the correct type (ie. meet the original spec). Some are glued, some not.
CWC sell the correct ones, and you can get them online and on eBay.

Thanks for the advice though guys, he likes the tissot the best so far, especially as they do a lot of MOTOGP timing stuff (his thing)
I'll let you know what he gets
In the mean time I stumbled around a little antique shop in the weekend and found a cute little citizen, paid £8 for it and then another £10 for a new strap, cleaned it up cosmetically and gave the movement a light oil and it seems to be keeping fairly good time! It's fast by about 30secs a day, but I don't really care about that!

Won a chunky Rotary divers watch for a song, going to stick a nato strap on it and use it as my cycling/DIY/outdoor activity watch

Was reading some watch trade mag in a jewellers yesterday, had a really interesting watch, the Mondaine Stop2Go, the seconds hand basically apes the Swiss rail clocks by doing a full rotation in 58 seconds then sitting on 12 o'clock for 2 seconds. Dunno why, but it's cool

The Swiss trains leave on the dot, if you're not on it by the time it reaches 58 secs, the doors will be locked and you've missed your train!

Anyone going to SalonQP this week? I'm going on Friday.
Spank me I turn my back for 5 minutes and we go from talking about IWC and Junghans , to Timex and fake Omegas !
SalonQP was fun last Friday.
Had a good chat with Giles Ellis, founder of Schofield watches, and had a play with their new Blacklamp watch. Interesting custom carbon fibre case, although I still prefer the Signalman DLC.Other highlights include:
- A nice 10 min chat with Max Busser of MB&F. Really approachable.
- Getting hands on with a bunch of cool watches (MB&F LM2, HYT H2, Urwerk UR-110, JLC, Bremont, B&R, and Nomos)
- A nice 10 min chat with Max Busser of MB&F. Really approachable.

Can anyone think of a good, but inexpensive "homage" to the blancpain fifty fathoms.
-
• #10340
Comparatively inexpensive or actually inexpensive?
Helson do a really nice homage to the fifty but I think its about £500. I'm sure there are better/cheaper.

Does anyone have a cheap watch like this I could borrow - ideally not working?
This belongs to my GF and I want to get it repaired and serviced for Xmas but need to have something to replace it with on the shelf whilst it's being checked/serviced, so that she doesn't notice it's gone.
or links to cheap ebay jobbies

Hugo posted a link to mechanical dress watches on ebay: http://bit.ly/1et7lBe
Had a look, there's loads on there going cheap. Then you can keep it for yourself when the job is done.
