If I'm right in thinking the 'beater' was that light coloured Raleigh then I believe you may have a potential career as a racing man. I would be reluctant to start out on a one way trip to Oxford on that machine, let alone there and back with a bag which, judging by its weight, must have contained the kitchen sink. As they say - chapeau!

How flattering, you are too kind! As for my name, I study at UCLH and the BMA used to offer good food to student members for not a lot of money. unfortunately they have put the prices up and taken away the discount (I swiftly cancelled my student membership).
