Other thread recommended the Clarks ones (with replacement pads) shown in the picture. I think short ones aren't common at all. But we'll see what the answers are :)

Halfords sell Clarks brand short pads for old fashioned brakes for about £3 a pair. I recently bought some for my old Weinmann brakes.

I don't think it makes any difference. The bumpy ones look more old school. I bought the x pattern ones as those were available at my local store, that all.
I notice that on eBay you can get similar pads in red in order to look more authentic, but personally, I couldn't be bothered.

asda do the short ones for about £1.99 a pair. actually pretty good stopping power, despite the walmartyness

In the end I got the X ones above. Wish I hadn't bought them on Amazon though as it turns out my new-opened and v friendly LBS has them. But there you go. All's good! :)
This has been partly answered on another thread I posted, but let me delve more...
My bike has Universal Mod 125s and the pads, I've discovered, are considerably shortly than modern ones. So much so that even apparently short-ish modern pads won't clear the frame/forks except when the brakes are quite to the rim.
It's not the worst problem in the world, but it got me wondering:
1/ Have I got the wrong pads? If so, what should I get instead?
2/ Is the greater length of the new ones going to give me any problems?
