Terrifying. I was in Vietnam when a "regular" typhoon passed through last month. The storm really wasn't like anything I've ever witnessed and the flooding and mess the following day were seriously impressive. This is on order of magnitude more powerful, frankly it's amazing anyone could have survived it.
To put it in context the storm we had in the UK a couple of weeks back had occasional winds gusting up to 80mph (but mostly not above 60mph as far as I understand it) . The Cat 2 Typhoon we were in had sustained winds of around 100mph. That's a whole different kettle of fish as was like nothing I've ever seen. It really did feel pretty apocalyptic. But this thing seems to have sustained winds up near 200mph. That's just so far off my scale of comprehension. I wonder that there's a single building standing. Frightening stuff.
