I believe they earned a respectable away point

Really happy with the way things are progressing at Liverpool this season. These are the teams we would have struggled to put away in previous seasons. We are clinical and are taking our chances well. We had 32 shots on goal today. Great stuff.
Other than the defeat by Southampton and of course last week against Arsenal we were very poor. Damn the international break. We need to wait a couple of weeks for another big test at Everton -

Ha! Stan Collymore calling out the Chelsea diver and calling MoanOhNoEoor a hypocrite. Nice

Watching the Eastern conference final, between Houstan Dynamo and Sporting Kansas City.
And this is a professional footbal league? It's terrible

I know your in Canada but being in that part of the world how will Beckham's new team fit into the MLS system. Is it so crap over there they can just join the top division?

It's all the same league, Canada and US play together.
So like all the other North American sports, there is no promotion and relegation.
When the league wants to expand, it doesn't promote an existing team from a lower division, it just creates another. All teams are owned by the league, and effectively leased to "owners" like Beckham. They can put money in, but ultimately all players are contracted to the league (which is what allows the trade system to exist, where players really have very little control about which team they play for).
It's a system which is designed entirely for entertainment, and viewing figures, not around individual teams, like our sports are. Results don't matter, but if a team doesn't get the ratings and attendance, they get cut, or moved.
The only way Beckham can get a team is through the relocation of an existing team, or an expansion team (a new team).
So in this case the MLS is growing a lot at the moment, it's gone from 10 teams to 19 in 11 years, and they are looking for new teams.
So Beckham's Miami team would be one of the new ones, along with New York City FC (who have a deal with Man City), who are confirmed for 2015.

Sounds like a plastic's heaven.
No wonder you moved there.

Cheers for the explanation. I Wondered why the teams were referred to as franchises. Without promotion or relegation , for me it's flawed from the start. Footballs a little bit subtle for those brash Americans but it's good that it's picking up

Fuck me is that what Jose was moaning about in the build up to the 2nd goal? Twat

Well, yes, and no.
The disadvantage of the system is, once you can't make the playoffs, the team has nothing to play for, which leads to poor games at the end of the season.
But the rest of the system is based around pure sports values of fairness, talent, coaching, etc, not money, like the Premier League is.
For example, the draft system is designed so that the worst teams from the season before get first pick on the best new talents. So teams are constantly moving up and down the table, a team that is bottom for a few years will suddenly end up with 2 or 3 good players, and be fighting at the top end. A team at the top end won't be able to get any new young talent, unless they trade their established players.
Imagine if Zaha, Moses, Sterling, etc had to sign for Fulham as their star striker, instead of the top teams just filling up their bench.
In addition each team has a salary cap (as players are owned and paid by the league), the only exceptions are a couple of "designated" players on each team, who are exempt from the cap, meaning teams can get (if they choose), a couple of stars. So Beckham was one of those, Robbie Keane and Henry are currently, and looks like Defoe might soon be the designated player for Toronto.
All of that means that it's much harder for a team to dominate purely by buying the best players though money.

Thoughts from MOTD and a bottle of red...
The Baggies were robbed: blatant dive from Ramires who was on his way to the deck long before he bounced off Reid.
Fulham were poor. You have to fear for Jol. Brenda is still a massive spiv.
Southampton continue to impress, will be interesting to see how they fare into the new year. There was a lot of confusion when Adkins got the boot - weren't the Saints doing pretty well anyway? Poccetino is really showing what they're capable of.
Some good penalties taken today - Lambert and Hooper showed what you can do with a proper run-up.
If Palace stay up, I'll wear one of their shirts to work for a day. -

Until today, Norwich had scored the least goals out of any clubs in the top five European leagues.

That moaning muppet on MOTD claiming it was a clear penalty. He really does rile me that bloke. The sound of his voice and his arrogance has me reaching for the remote control every time he opens his trap

Sorry, but you're going to have to be a bit more specific.
