Workmate has just brought in £200 worth of civet coffee. You can really taste the anus.
Send him this:

I swear I'll never buy anything from Philips again. Incompetent numpties. Still holding my Gaggia to ransom after 8 weeks, despite never providing any evidence that the machine (which I was sending back because it was broken, again) was damaged in transit. Mum and I have lost track of the number of people we've discussed the issue with at Philips, emails, calls etc.
Has anyone used this company? http://www.gaggia-service.com

This guy is meant to be good. He posts on coffeeforums.co.uk under the same name:

I bought a pre-Philips model from 2003 and have never had any issues at all.

I'd cash offer him £180 to pull it. That's what he'd get after fees for the original price of £200.

anyone know of any weekend or part time cash in hand barista jobs going? I guess a market stall would be ideal. I need a bit of income but can't commit to anything while job hunting.

Ask at notes (Rob, I kinda know) - they have fingers in many pies.
Or...you may have possibly hit already...

Check the link in my post above yours, it sounds like a mad, but working idea you could use :)

Well, I did the Nespresso vs Gaggia taste test
Nespresso won... a little more hassle filling the pod, but with a grind, i filled up
Fresh water in both machines
Freshly ground beansNespresso had a creamier head and smoother taste...
So... Anyone interested in buying a Gaggia Classic?

so they really have made nespresso 'fool proof' :P

Having a real battle with Philips at the moment - my Gaggia broke down, yet again, about 8 weeks ago, so they said they'd collect and fix it for free. I packed it up in its original box, with extra padding and the courier picked it up from mum's office. Several weeks later I hear nothing so ask them what the score is. They say it's repaired but claim it was damaged in transport due to bad packing. Totally ridiculous!
Despite many pointless phone calls and emails and now a letter from my mother to the company MD, I still don't know what's happening or if I'll ever see my machine again. I have a quiet weekend coming up so I think it's time to get stroppy...
It's a shame my whole experience of the Gaggia Classic has been tarnished by so many mechanical and now customer care problems.
At bloody last.
No apology for the 10 week delay, the unanswered letters and emails, the inconvenience, the stress, the fact this was the third time the machine had to be fixed etc etc...
tl;dr: should have got an aeropress :/

Glad you finally got the machine back!
Get an aeropress anyway...

Good work dude, I don't post much in this thread, but it's interesting to see a comparison that I'm assuming is fairly impartial. How do the Nespresso prefilled packs stand up to your testing? (I think that's the basic nespresso way isn't it?)
