Newbie here - to this forum and to the roads (I'm sure I'll end up pissing a few of you off on both counts).
Looking for my first commuter bike and found this Plug. Thinking, as a first bike, it may not be bad if I can get it for sub-£250.
Would consider building from scratch, but with hardly anything in the way of even maintenance experience, I think something already put together by someone who knows what they're doing is a better idea.
Any (not too unpleasant) thoughts?

The description reads like a sad poem!
That's one of the funniest things I've read and come across on LFGSS - I thank you.

Have you tried a bikeshop?

^ Maybe the guy's on a budget.
Dan4 - I wouldn't describe this bike as being 'put together' - by someone who knows what they're doing or otherwise. Some of the parts have been replaced, that's all.

Yep, can't really afford anything new at the moment unfortunately. If there are bike shops out there which sell decent second hand bikes at good prices then I'm listening. Otherwise I'll stick to this here forum or reputable sellers on eBay.
When I say I want something put together by people who know what they're doing, I'm including the bike manufacturers themselves in that! Don't mind something off-the-peg, just don't trust myself to build anything myself.

a plug is a perfectly good bike to get around town on and good enough that if you want to put some nice parts on it you'll notice some improvements (not too much though).
once you've ridden it through a winter or two and it's a bit dinged up you can get something nicer and keep it as your pub bike.
once you get your bike get down to the forum compass drinks nearest to you and make some friends and you'll get plenty of help sorting any slight problems out with whatever you get.

Thanks for the kind response HatBeard. Sounds like the right sort of bike for me - though this one in particular is already sitting at £230 and I'm guessing will go for way more than that (and way more than it's actually worth).
Once I'm sorted with a bike I'll definitely head down for drinks. I've got a few good mates really into their biking (though mostly MTB) so will have them to rely on for the maintenance / repair / upgrade side of things too.

That's not a 'nag, is it?
Not a colnago. So obviously not a colnago pista. I called him out on it but he refused to engage beyond calling me a joker. Which is rich coming from him...

What a total bell. He's ended it now, here's hoping he didn't sell it!
