@Malaysian:
If you can manage the climbs and mileage, then job's a goodun.

Cool, by September I'll have dropped a bit more weight too, which is what slows me down on the ups.

If you do it the following weekend you can watch the three peaks race on the Sunday.

I'm from Skipton, (parental units still live there) and I can confirm that is a lush route. Been meaning to get some Yorkshire miles in for a while but a) I don't have a road bike at the moment and b) I'll be in Thailand in Sept.
The Aagrah, the massive Indian restaurant that now dominates Skipton canal basin, is highly recommended. Had a feast there last time I was in town, proper good grub. Might be a good place for a Sunday post ride refuel.

Righto, one final adjustment. Boring boring boring.
Did a bit of investigating, found that Friday night trains to Skipton are grim. So now, the final stuffs (promise):-
- Train out to Skipton during the evening of Saturday, September 24th. Earby hostel overnight.
- Cycling on the Sunday (Yes, the 25th), hopefully encountering cyclocrossers on the way.
- Return to London in the evening. The last train is the 19:37. I will be on it.
I'm all booked (£47, all in), it won't rain, I'm evidently crap at logistics, I shouldn't think out loud when there's a keyboard in front of me, terribly sorry, and I'm now going to stop writing.

Dredge alert, but I've been looking for a good hilly ride to do in Yorkshire.
Did anyone actually do this and how did you fare?

I've ridden this route a couple of times. The territory is fucking sublime.
Snacks in Hawes and Kettlewell, lungs inverted on Fleet Moss and Buttertubs.
Do it.
Everybody.

Thanks so much both, would be a Friday trip up and Saturday ride, then back to London that evening I think. Thinking of early December for full Winter goodness. How's the wind there?
Okay. I've had a look at my calender, and unfortunately I can't justify the trip for a while now. Earlier in the year I went a bit gung-ho with booking things, and I'm now just about filled to capacity for the summer.
Rest assured that I'm still dead keen on completing the route this year, it's just that I've got a fair way to pedal before my decks are clear.
So I'll dredge this up this thread in a bit, with a view to sorting a trip for early to mid September. In the mean time, I'd strongly recommend the route to anyone who's inclined to give it a bash.
