• Twitter has another distressing report of rider down.... I hope it isn't so
    https://twitter.com/russellthorn/status/397804091977789440

  • Rider taken to hosital. Injuries not clear but not fatal.
Rider aged in 60s hit by a coach
    Fingers crossed not too serious.

  • Just cycled around the incident on the way home - lots of tape, coach and a couple of buses pulled over with hazards on.

The comment of 'just be careful out there, hey?' from a policeman after I enquired if it was alright to go up a side road certainly complemented the sombre mood around the area.

As below, fingers crossed it isn't serious.

  • I saw this on the way home as well. Rider was being attended by a few polices officers and a bike paramedic. I asked one of the bus driver who was stopped directly behind the coach what happened and he said she'd undertaken the bus.

Then he got all shirty as he thought I was trying to blame the driver. I assured him I wasn't.

Hope the rider heals up fast and the injuries aren't serious.

Then on Hackney Road/Dawson St I was behind a girl undertaking a tipper trunk (the rider killing kind), it had stopped to let a car turn right as the pelican crossing was on red. She went up the inside at speed and nearly into the side of the turning car.

Luckily she managed to stop but nearly fell into the the tipper. I'm so glad she managed to stop in time and the truck wasn't moving.

  • Heal fast rider.

^Surely that is worthy of being called out?

  • Just passed by this on my way home, wish the rider luck!

  • I stopped at the site about 9.45 this evening. The coach and bike were still in situ, with the riders panniers and their contents all over the road. It was sobering to see and I hope the rider makes a swift recovery.

It looked to me as if the bike was under the front, rather than the side, of the coach and I don't think if us useful to speculate here as to whose actions led to what.

  • I rode past this on my way home 10.20 ish. I didn't realise. Best of luck rider ! Hope all are well an good. I'm a bit somber right now. :-[

  • Just logged in because I also saw this at around 2015 ish. It looked bad heading south on Kingsway, you could see the bike on the floor and a blinking light from the bike on what was maybe a front basket, but hard to tell in the dark. The vehicle looked like a small sized white coach from where I was, left indicator still on, and the bike was about half way up it on the floor, not under it or anything, so I hope that means the bike or rider weren't crushed in any way.

I hope the rider gets well soon.

  • Saw an older guy left hooked by a coach on Southampton Row around 6.45pm last night.

Lots of people in attendance so didn't hang about, but he wasn't moving.

Shit - seems to be worse than it initially looked.

    Heal up rider.

  • Sorry - seen this was already reported.

  • GWS, rider! I hope they make a full recovery.

  • Thoughts and best wishes with the rider.

Have you made yourself known to the police as a witness?

  • Very sadly it would seem that the gentleman hit by a coach last week has died. His name was Francis Golding, he was a prominent planner and architect, and twitter is full of condolences from people who would know him and know this information to be correct.

    Rest in peace, Mr Golding.

Can a mod change the title of this thread please?

  • Sad news, RIP Francis.

  • Terrible, I feared as much when the crash happened.

    Rest in peace, Francis.
