Enjoy your sleep this evening, Skydancer is watching you!

Cremation and urn ride surely?
-
• #4
No rides please, even if the unlikely circumstance of my death in a road traffic incident.
I'd rather be forgotten swiftly, a blemish erased.
If there is any kind of mark to be made, just make it temporarily by attending the funeral which I hope would be open to anyone who cared in any way.
Afterwards, don't linger or prolong things... life is for the living.

Is this thread legally binding?;)
Good work btw...I suppose this plan could also apply if you really need a break.

"A blemish erased"? Are you ok man? Do you need someone to come over with some booze and talk you off the balcony?
*secretly flattered that you trust me not to merge everything into a UTFS thread ;)

Legal schmegal.
I've laid out my very few wishes, I think they're comprehensive enough. Who's going to argue over the wishes of a dead person? Should it come to that, Felicity wins. Helping her means not arguing with her.

I'm fine, just recognising the transient nature of existence.

Should this thread be private?
Others may wish to post their Will here to a more limited audience -
• #10
I can't see why it need be private. At least this way no-one could argue over the details (or lack thereof) of my wishes. And I trust someone on here will alert whomever is appropriate of the existence of this thread.
Public works pretty well in this case, and it's not like I have enough that anyone could benefit from knocking me off.

not sure an online declaration is legally binding
you could always start a private thread
hippy can merge if he ever gets to take control

That is true for you.
Perhaps a similar thread elsewhere would be valuable to some. -

Deep.
Here's some funny boxers to lighten the mood
I had a 'make a will' document sitting around for 12 months and then binned it, realising I can't even fill out monthly timesheets let alone a will.

Its a contingency plan

- Help Felicity
I'm a lawyer and my Will is about 20 years out of date, but please, if you're not married, and even if you are, make a Will. Otherwise, she gets nothing. Naaaaathing. Nada. Zero. Zilch. Maybe today that won't matter. Maybe later it will.
If you want everything to go to her, make a Will. FFS, I'll write it for you for free, and give you muppet-proof instructions on how to execute it. Just remember that the Wills Act 1837 leaves no prisoners. And speaking as one whose mother just died intestate, thinking she'd always have time to make a Will, let me assure you of how much a balls-ache it can be not to have done so.

^This, in spades. If neither of you has made a will you are almost certainly guaranteeing that what you will leave to the other is the worst time of their life made even worse.

not sure an online declaration is legally binding
No indication of post mortem desires (other than financial ones in a will) is legally binding. The wishes of the living next of kin become paramount after death. That said, a statement such as this gives guidance to Felicity and is a nice and sensible idea.
DJ, please let us know what you want doing so we can start planning.

sloppy linking, schick; here's a working download > http://www.lawsociety.org.uk/for-the-public/common-legal-issues/documents/making-a-will---english/
skydancer reckons I need a plan for if anything serious happens to me, I reckon this is dull stuff and logistics really bore me. But, as he's being insistent, here is my first and last will and testament.
On #1. Seriously, we have nothing (and what I do own is for her, including the bikes to dispose of as she sees fit) and virtually no-one, we have little support network, we will never inherit from others, we have no pensions, no savings. If anything should happen to me, please help Felicity. She will need immediate financial assistance and a lot of organisational support. She is extremely experienced in loss, but unfortunately that will likely mean that it impacts her harder. Whatever she needs, just find a way to help her.
On #2. Let me degrade gracefully. In a box (cardboard?) that worms can get to. There is no preference on where. Put nothing that cannot degrade in with me... specifically no bike parts or anything equally silly. Proceedings should be understated, just help Felicity.
On #3. I have a single printed piece of paper with all passwords on it and access details and that I refresh from time to time. Felicity will find it. She'll pass credentials for LFGSS onto hippy.
I guess skydancer wanted more of a detailed contingency plan not for death but for some other form of incapacity and inability to access the forum or support the community that would grant the community continuation. There is none, the system would carry on without me for as long as the bills get paid +1 month. Felicity can ensure that the bills bank account is topped up sufficiently.
If anyone is looking for a more complete plan, there also isn't one. Microcosm will have proper procedures, but for my life... I figure it won't be my problem and I do hate telling people what to do. In all things Felicity's view is to be respected, and with all things forum related hippy wins.
