I think if you try and avoid them if you can but in deep winter when pick up is quiet it's ok to play a fixture or 2. If you do want to play on a throw in night ask on the respective throw in thread (north or south) and make sure there are no major objections (if there are be prepared to change your plans). It's also good manners to sit out of the shuffles if you're playing a fixture.
