    Ever ridden with any one on normal mtb's? and how is it with spd's?

    I've been riding trails mostly by myself. Without brakes you'll have to take it slower when hitting descends for example. On rocky trails pedal strikes tend to happen time to time - it's harder to avoid them. But I like riding fixed and even brakeless on trails. Of course you are slower than somebody with brakes and freewheel but I like the feeling. Somehow I keep steadier pace and keep on pushing longer with fixed gear. Some descends can be scary but it's fun to find a way to ride them down.

    Spd's work out just fine: better control than with flat pedals and straps.
