  • Had a brooks saddle stolen off my bike tonight in Shoreditch... Was kryptonite chained on... just cut through and took it. Where's my best options for finding it?

  • you'll never be seeing that brooks again.
best repellant for saddle theft is a plastic tescos bag and a bit of poo.

  • Somebody tried to steal my bike today. Came back to find it in an unusual position, but thought it had just been knocked it over. Unlocked and rode off, only to find later a healthy dent in the top tube that wasn't there before. Not best pleased, but not much I can do about it now I guess?

    Thought I'd share.

  • I found my stolen bike in a second hand shop in the middle of town. Went round and confronted the guy.. Guess what he took as proof of identity of the seller?

  • A Court Date letter...

  • You couldnt make it up.

  • Did you get your bike back then?

  • plenty of brooks saddles on brick lane today
    car parks off sclater street

  • Managed three years in London, before my Clockwork Orange was pinched off of a set of locked roof bars in a supposedly nice part of Bristol. Police were very helpful but basically recommended that if I'm looking for it, I'll have better luck trawling the "Parts for Sale" sections of the local rag...

  • Lambeth police having an open day tomorrow and saturday (8th and 9th November) so you can see if they've got your stolen bike. You'll need proof of ownership, obvs.

  • Do nothing

  • Cry like a bitch

  • or go to brick lane / sclater street and when you find your stolen goods grass the stall holders up to the police

  • haha i got two fixies, but i stil sad for the stolen one

  • My housemate has just found her bike on ebay. Anyone got some legit advice? Otherwise we're going to just turn up and get that motherfucker.

Just phoned the police. They're going to follow up with a phonecall.

    1. Police.
    2. Phone ebay.
    3. Follow up with email.
    4. Police again.

Good luck, ebay were quite helpful to me a while back.

  • Cheers

Do you find the advice in the first post insufficient? If so, what would you add?

  • This was more specific to ebay. I'll let you know as it unfolds.

Looks like the [birmingham] cops won't do anything as she doesn't have a serial number, even though there are specific extras and components she's put on and has receipts for!

  • is it still in brum?

  • Check Gumtree, Swapz, Pre-Loved etc religiously until you see it (hopefully), arrange a collection and beat the shit out of the little bastard!

  • you can get filler, they use for car dents, sanding paper and fill in the dent in 2-3 stages. spray paint after. thats the best solution to fix the tube.

  • re: bike theft. when buying a bike I recommend noting the frame number down and take a picture of the bike. this will already help later to identify the bike. If you can, dont by an off the shelf bike, stick to something unusual, like a specific vintage frame. have it marked, this will keep some of the thiefs away. If you cant find your bike on Bricklane, try Nine Elms Lane, the New Covent garden market on sundays. I know of a person selling 4 stolen bikes an hour.
