will consider anything beautiful and old

  • I've made the decision to sell my Brian Wilkins 531 23" track frame & forks. Made by Brian for a clubmate when he had a bike shop in Markhouse Road, E17 in the early 1970s. His wife did the lug lining. I bought it off my clubmate in 1978 and raced it at Harlow & Herne Hill til mid 1980s. It's then hung up in my garage. Original paintwork with normal scratches ( yes I did crash several times but no major impacts, just slides & track burns) sp no dents etc.

Fitted with a brand new Chris King headset

It's quite rare, much loved but I won't ride it anymore (got 9 other bikes) however I do want it to go to a good home where it will be appreciated.

I'm no good at inserting pics here but pm me your details & I'll email some over.

    Regards

  • This sounds really interesting, 23" is lightly on the large side for me if that at ctc measurement? The largest frame that Im comfortable riding is a 57.

Would love to see a picture though, I will sent you a pm with my details.

    Cheers,
    Rob

  • Sorry just measured frame and it's 22&1/2 top of seat tube to middle bottom bracket and 22&1/2 centre of seat tube to centre head tube.

I'm 5'8" with 31" inside leg and it fits fine

I still can't work out how to put up pics here so will email them to you

  • Hi Antonio, please can you confirm the seat post ctc measurement and also what thread the BB is?

Do you know if it's a British frame?

    Thanks,
    Rob

  • It's an italian frame, from somewhere around Milan. The seatpost is something small like 25.x I should check. The bb is italian

    Bob Jackson with Nervex lugs.

  • I've just bought the PENNINE SCELTA DEI CAMPIONI TRACK FRAME 1974 from Hillary Stone

Any thoughts? I know its not perfect but it's as close to what I had in my mind's eye without spending a fortuneā€¦

  • Very nice Wally Green. If you are in London you can pop into the shop and can save on postage and get it cheaper as they won't have to pay ebay/Paypal fees.

  • Thanks Alex, that is a lovely frame but I think Im going to build up the pennine and then take if from there. Thank you for the tip to check out what HS had on offer, it actually not such a bad price and will look great once Ive had it sprayed.

  • Oh sorry, I've been browsing and reading so much that I did not realise that you were actually the one that bought the Pennine, that's why I posted the other one after. That's a very nice frame indeed!
