boom. did it fixed 48/20. 7 days, ~200km a day. camped night 1 but ended up in BnBs the rest of the way. different route than shown above. will post strava and some photos in a couple of days for those interested.
i learnt a huge amount about the route and about undertaking trips like this, so if you've got something similar planned i'd be delighted to answer any questions.

i did last year London to Biarritz in 7 days.special moments.good luck
This Summer I shall be cycling London to Saint-Tropez. The route is 850 miles (ferry to Calais via Dover) and I want to do it in 7 days, camping all but night #4. I am not really interested in seeing anything off the bike and wouldn't have a chance to unless I extended the trip (which I don't want to). Here is the route as an outline with towns used as rest-points:
http://ridewithgps.com/routes/1818448
#0 London
#1 Arras (150) [150]
#2 Rheims (100) [250]
#3 Troyes (90) [340]
#4 Langres (75) [415]
#5 Lyon (160) [575]
#6 Avignon (140) [715]
#7 Saint-Tropez (135) [850]
Doing it in the 7 days is going to be a mammoth challenge for me. As the trip fleshes out I expect an increase in the total distance but I hope miles gained can be put on day #3 (although there is a 1,000 feet of climb that day).
Has anyone dones a similar route through France? Thoughts would be massively appreciated. I've had a look at 'Cycle to Cannes', which helped with the route.
