Unless it was getting towards the lower single figures and was still dry I rode in an LS jersey and LS baselayer (with thermal bibs & legwarmers) for good part of the winter last year.
Keep a gilet, wind jacket or rain jacket in your pocket depending on the forecast and you've got everything covered.
Thanks for all the tips folks. Given the winter jersey is on £20 more, I may just hold out and get one of those big boys.
I can just layer up with my current thin longsleeve to get me through til the real cold stuff starts.
