  • How much would I have to spend to convince you to make a bunch of kit with the same design as usual (double/single bands) but all black.
I love your gear but the white accents become an interesting blue grey colour by about the second wash when faced with the run off from all my black kit.
    #mankycyclegoth

Never had that problem, my whites are still a lovely fresh white after 2 years!

  • Well aren't you the advert for Persil :)

To be fair to Torm there's a fair amount of unstable dyed products in my wash most of the time so I couldn't blame their fabric - it's more of an excuse to get some awesome black kit.

  • you could overdye them black. would look cool, I think.

  • Just took delivery of a T5 as a birthday gift.

Bit concerned about the finishing, have tweeted them, as I don't want to wear it until that gets sorted.

I sent you a reply same day, offering to replace it , did you get my message ?

  • Any new designs/colours for the winter on their way mate?

New colour due in Spring...me and Al matched it with his new Harry Hall winter commuter !

I used to do plain black, red, white and grey in short and long sleeves (T3 and T6)....but they didn't go well...I think I'll do the plain black one again this Spring though and see how it goes. A few clubs have asked me to do it so that can embroider their logos on them.

  • Why you'd tweet and not pick up a phone if there is an issue!?

Still want to get some of your stuff for training and leisure. It looks good.

I did but I decided I was being a pansy about it.

Cut it off and it's fine.

Gets me through the week without ponging by the end.

  • Would you ever do a brighter coloured/hi viz jersey?

Yep, you can call on 01843 865769 - we run a local bike shop as well so expect me or Al to answer 'Hello SP Cycles"

You can mail at mail@torm.cc - me and Al don't do office hours so expect an answer at weird times.

In fact we don't mind how people get in touch as long as they do with what ever's on their mind.

Im up to 2 layers of SportWool at the moment for riding...or if I'm going to the pub !

  • Would you ever do a brighter coloured/hi viz jersey?

T1 and T2 are yellow...and I mean bright yellow...did you have another colour in mind ?

Perfect, but if it is a problem just let me know!

  • Fixed the indexing on my bar-ends, so while testing that I've also been trying out my new T5. Very impressive, extremely warm, light and does everything a jersey should do.

The only downside is that it makes me look a far more competent cyclist than I actually am, while stationary outside cafes at any rate.

I'll put some more work into that!

  • am debating what size to go for. given careful washing (low heat i presume is high wool content) could i expect a torm jersey to:

    a) stretch slightly over time
    b) shrink a little after a few washes
    c) not change at all

    ?

  • if you look after it i'd say C. i think i slightly shrunk my torm baselayers a few years back (and i probably gained a few lbs) but i was washing them in with the rest of my normal clothes at the time and probably got stuck in a 60 degree wash at some point.

sportwool washed with wool detergent* at 30 degrees shouldn't change at all. It's how i wash all my merino stuff now and it keeps it perfect.

    *I use nikwax wool wash.

Low temperature & low agitation washing should keep you at c) for a while.

Wool shrinks as the cuticles in the fibres rub against each other, catching and holding on to each other, in the same way that felt is made. This process is exacerbated in hot water, and with more movement.

Unless you hand wash each and every time, wool is going to shrink & felt eventually.

  • ^^^ I would say mine has stretched slightly over time, but then I'm not particularly careful with it and use it loaded down on long rides, including one 210 miler, which is probably not exactly what wool/wool-mixes are designed for.

With that in mind, I would say they have performed really rather well :)

I also tend to (always?) wash at 30º but on a normal spin cycle and have had no bother there over a year+ of usage

  • And, as ever, never use fabric conditioner, or you will completely bollocks the MagicWool™ wicking / warming / drying properties.

    this is spot on...felting

I'm paranoid and hand wash all my merino apart from my socks which I don't really care about...

You can stretch wool too, water, iron, pull, iron. Supplement water with tears when you've accidentally put something in the 90'C wash...

  • sportswool is impressively hardy, it can take abuse/high washes much more than 100% wool, which i've noticed with a sigh of relief after accidently washing a jersey at 60

  • Oh man....ordered a medium and large T1. if only the medium was a tiny bit bigger it would be perfect...

  • Eat more to make the large fit better

  • I'm thinking of getting one of these jerseys. What do you guys reckon is most versatile? Long or short sleeve?
