  • I think I will do this one:

Though this one seems more brutal:

Exams in 5 weeks mean time on bike is limited massively at the moment, but these both fit in well with timetable.

  • 200km Good Companions permanent tomorrow....looks lie it'll be a wet one.

  • Hello guys, has anyone got a ride planned in the next 6 months thats 600km? Im up for trying it or giving it a go. Just finished a 300 miles and want to see if I can go further!?

  • The first calendar 600 isn't until May. There will be some group Permanent 600k rides organised on YACF between now and then. Might be worth trying to get in on one of those.

  • So it is!

  • I'm doing the Bryan Chapman next year. That's 600km

  • Excellent stuff, I'll be doing that too, was very envious when reading the ride report of the BC in YACF.

And The Pendle too as well, was very annoyed I couldn't make it.

First heard about this when James told me nearly three years ago in the local Tesco. He said it is nicer then the Alps.

You know the Pendle's not on next year! Although there was talk of a 1000km...

  • I'm in, 1,000km sound dreamy, I absolutely loved the 1400km last summer.

  • You know the Pendle's not on next year! Although there was talk of a 1000km...

The Swan with Two Necks 600km, also run by Andy Corless (the sadist behind the Pendle) would be worth a look instead - http://www.aukweb.net/events/detail/14-7/

I'm intrigued as to whether Andy Corless's 1,000km will ever materialise, I would be prepared to guess that if it does it might well end up being the most challenging ride in the calender for next year, though currently this - http://www.aukweb.net/events/detail/14-393/ is looking to be a pretty hilly event!

  • Woooah!

  • An X-rated 1300km? that's fucking insane!

  • apparently there is a ferry crossing, complete with one ferry per day, to negotiate as well....

  • Excellent stuff, I'll be doing that too, was very envious when reading the ride report of the BC in YACF.

For accuracy Bryan Chapman is BCM. BC is Brevet Cymru, a 400k ride. An important distinction to some.

Rules usually stipulate that ferry distance doesn't count so isn't allowed for in the given time. It will come out of any buffer time you build up.

Ah yes, thank for pointing it out.

  • Dam that highland ride is intense, would be amazing though. What's a good time to do the brain chapman ride in...35 hours? Do people normally sleep? I'm not sure how much longer I could have functioned longer than 24 with no sleep.

  • Last year I got in around 37 hours and was at the tail end of the main pack so yes, 35 hours is a pretty good time.

Yes people usually sleep. The problem for some is that the controls kind of sit at the wrong places. The first visit to the YHA is at 220km, way to early for sleeping off a 6am start. At 300k you're at Menai Bridge. A little nap would be handy to get you back to the YHA but mostly it'll be too early to sleep in a busy, well lit hall. The drag back to the YHA gets you there around 400k, 50k beyond the ideal sleep stop by my reckoning. It's a bit of a drag over Trawsfynydd to get you back there and the more tired you are, the slower you go. Unless you're fairly quick, you'll then likely get caught up in the bottleneck for sleeping spots and that causes delays unless you can stomach the common room.
Not always the best set up for the haul up Cross Foxes and the lumps to Aberhafesp, although they will have beds there as well if you want to break up your sleeping.

  • Anybody else doing the Upper Thames 200 ride around Oxford on Saturday?

  • Scobles was my Audax Uk mag this morning.

When is it? Gonna do it on that folder/shopper? :0)

I need to stop drinking and get out into the countryside again. Almost sounds like fun. :)
