Oh dear... Pub bike is getting less 'Pub' by the minute...
This.
... and this -
with maybe these -
Going full fancy as well, by all accounts vivalo lost their njs certification as a coupla frames broke and dream factory is the posh respray set up that the ex vivalo crew set up afterwards so there'd be a nice tie between the factory NJS pearl and the vivalo forks.

Any fork suggestions?

Those sparkly forks look decent Tim, glad to see you keeping the build sensible.
What size is the frame?
-
• #84482
i say yes to full sparkly build
-
• #84483
Get those forks, repaint the frame glossy black with some sparkly KHS decals.

Nice, did you get this from Nasty too? I nearly started a new build around it when he showed it to me!

Embarking on first Ahead/threadless build.
How do I go about translating my current quill stem set-ups to Ahead stems?
The length seems obvious enough, but what about rise and how that effects the effective length?

play around with either of these to replicate the position?

Just found this thread after doing a search on Jim Guard cycles, so thought it would be rude not to chip in.
I have just acquired a Jim Guard frame, unfortunately I had to pay for mine though, but I had been after a local Southampton bicycle for a while. While Rotrax was on my list, I had never heard of Jim Guard before. He had a shop near Bitterne train station, from 1949 to the 60's, from what I have gathered so far. He was also a racer himself. I don't think he built his frames, they came from a builder in North London I think.
Mine is a Cyclo Ace close ratio three speed though, so feel wrong posted up photos of it here. If any one is interested there's an album here though >

Given free to me by old friend of the family. 50's 60's Jim Guard path frame, Fancy Nervex lugs, wrap over seat stays, 531 tubing, airlite hubs with double fixed rear, 27" Dunlop super sprint wheels, GB stem and old cinelli drops. think chain set is BSA? drop-outs have eyelets for mud guards.
/attachments/4599Has anyone heard of this maker as a search through usual routes show nothing up, and 'Jim Guard is handpainted on down stays.Have half a though that this maybe a re-badged something else any ideas?

Self amalgamating silicone tape would be best, no adhesive at all and it forms a nice rubber sleeve over whatever you wrap in it.
How is get this?

Considering sticking these on the Pompino as my current pedals seem to have their best days behind them.
Ugly and expensive no doubt, but they get big positives in my mind for being truly double sided and having reflectors.
Thought that maybe being so wide they might cause pedal strike riding fixed.
Anybody used them?
-
• #84495
Don't lean.
I have similar Wellgo pedals on my Pompetamine, but that has a freewheel.

My spd m520s came with adapters with reflectors on them dunno if they're any good for long time cycling on, but they're probably cheaper.
edit also just reread and saw you said truly double sided, so I guess that those dont fit the bill.

Would those plastic adaptors last more than a week? PD-T780 looks like a better buy if you are really going to ride in non-cycling shoes
-
• #84498
Interesting. I've got M520s on my road bike that didn't come with reflectors. At £15 that would be a lot cheaper. I don't really cycle properly with non-cycling shoes, but I like having the option to occasionally go somewhere by bike in normal shoes. Probably only once a month, but I would like them to last indefinitely. I wonder if the plastic adaptors would stay on long...
Thanks for the suggestions. These the Wellgo ones you have Tester?
Ooh - these look good except for lack of reflectors, and it's now going to be dark for about six months

I've got M540s on my road bike and M520s on my SS Pomp, and can ride either in SPDs or Converse, though wet weather grip with the latter is severely compromised. Been meaning to buy some DZRs or similar but summer's been dry so couldn't be arsed. Might look for something soon though.
Surely running those PD-T780s on FG would be pointless?
They also appear to lack a tab for flipping them over with your foot. -
• #84500
Well I currently run A530s fixed, which also don't have a tab for flicking them over, but I don't find this to be a problem. It seems to usually present the right side and if it doesn't, I just lift up my foot slightly for half a rotation, by which time the pedal will have turned round, and then press down.
Why would T780s be pointless?
Yeah just looking on NJS Export and I could get some pretty cheap providing customs don't kick me with the costs!
