I will be taking it apart to re lube and replace the bushing which I understand is the freehub's weak spot!
I plan to follow the instructions here:
RogueMechanic Mavic Freehub Body pt.1 - YouTube
When people say that Campy 9 speed and Shimano 9 speed are compatible I understand that it means that they have similar enough rear spacing!
I am wondering does this mean exactly the same spacing or similar enough???
Also even if the spacing is identical wouldn't Campagnolo work better with Campagnolo due to the shape of the cassette teeth and shape of jockey wheels teeth being more compatible with the chain ?? ... is this just marketing ???
sjd119 PMed you re Campy body !

I guess Sheldon answers half of my questions, i.e. spacing is not the same but close enough:

Has anyone tried one of these??
Mavic M10 cassette:

Per the description below it is the answer to all Mavics/Shimano spline/ Campy 9sp and 10sp spacing complications
I am considering to give it a go !

You'd be better off just getting some Campagnolo spacers, and use them with a Shimano cassette.
Also the teeth/jockey wheel profiles are not an issue as most people use Wipperman/KMC/SRAM chains which are not manufacturer specific.

Thanks for the feedback!
Why are you suggesting to avoid the mavic cassette?? Cost or quality??
As my current Shimano Cassette is not made up of loose rings, I will need a new Shimano cassette with lose rings + Campagnolo 9 speed spacers (non campagnolo spline specific so they can fit the freehub body on my Ksyriums)!
I assume all Shimano 9sp or 10sp loose ring cassettes will do...?
but where do you get Campagnolo 9 speed spacers??
Greetings to the Group !
The Mavic Ksyrium Elite of my Fondriest (http://www.lfgss.com/thread113439.html#post3884361) are suffering from the usual "death squeal" freehub issue.
As there are otherwise true/ stiff/ and run smooth I have purchased the replacement bushing in order to fix the freehub.
Before dissasempling for the repair I was also considering of purchasing a Campy freehub.
My current setup is Campy 9 speed: Mechs/ Cranckset/ Ergos with shimano 9 speed rear cassette (hence freehub) chain and jockey wheels.
I know that in principle 9 speed shimano and Campy are supposed to work together but as my shifting and drive train noise is not as "clean" as I would like I was wondering if the mix of components could be the reason.
To sort out the noise I am also looking at replacing my rear mech which is cracked as well as my small Miche chainring which I have noticed is noisier than the large Campagnolo.
The bike also has an anusual (I think) chainring combination:
Small chairning 39T
Cassette 12T - 21T
Chainging freehub would cost me cassette and freehub!
Any ideas??
Anyone knows where I could source a Mavic Campagnolo body freehub (9 speed cassette compatible)??
Cheers
George
