I have a Mercian 753 in similar size just waiting to build up, have to say, it is exceptionally light, especially for such a large steel frame.

lovely frames, pleasure to ride, nice and light, when you flick / ping the tubes they sounds so delicate and thin
bu these are such good quality, if you know anything about the ilkeston factory you'll know frames don't get much better than these SB's -

Thanks, guys. Yes, it is a great frame. I feel sad to let it go, but I want to keep focus with my collection, which will be mainly Dutch. The connaisseur of British bikes or him/her who want a superb steel frame will be very happy with it.

Sweet frame! Had a couple of SB's and they truly are exceptionally built frames. Always wanted a 753 one, but too big for me GLWS

Im new to this Forum and Cycling. I've just brought a bike that looks same as this. The stickers have been removed but the bike Looks new and everything works. The Serial is OC12026 and another sticker can make out 18-23 tensil. Any info on this Bike and whats it worth. I paid £70. is it worth £70?
-
• #15
No, it's not the same, this is built with top of the range tubing, yours is lower quality. The entire bike for 70£ is a fair price I'd say, depending on components/how much it works/serviced or not etc.

I've seen this frame in the flesh, really lovely and if it was a 64 it a) would no longer be available; b) I'd be in a lot of trouble at home (again).
Someone please buy it before I think "ah, what's 2 cm".

Is that a small dent on the edge of the rust patch on the left side of the down tube just above the bb? http://m.flickr.com/#/photos/98536346@N04/9228039135/

Hi BT :)
Yes, it is lovely. For me it is more a case of if it was only 2 cm smaller...

Cosmetically: it is not new, but given its age it is an attractive looking frame. Original paint! On several places there is paint is off, for example on toptube cableguides, where the pump sat fitted and where the rear tire rubbed the chainstay at some point. Small dent caused by the pump falling and get stuck during a ride. According to the 1st owner that already happened when the bike was new, so this doesn't cause any trouble. I personally treated places where the paint is off with a clear rust prevention coat using a very fine 00 pencil. Not noticable and you could paint it over if you want. I applied a carnuba wax treatment for ultimate shine and protection. Pictures will tell more than many pages text. Take a look, I have attached are many. Structurally the frame is 100% sound.
