• You know the police regularly run 'Op Cubo', pulling over drivers in conjunction with ANPR cameras to fine drivers/seize cars/occasionally nick people etc for no insurance, no tax, no MOT, illegally tinted windows, driving whilst on their phones and all that sort of thing? There's one run at least once a month in most if not all London boroughs.

They're not out to victimise cyclists, but frankly I have no issue with them fining cyclists that run red lights. RLJing is pointless, counter-productive and dangerous for the cyclist and for other road users and pedestrians.

With the number of utterly shit cyclists I see every day, maybe a fine and a stern talking to (and the prospect of a further fine) will make them see the error of their ways before they hurt themselves or someone else. Common sense clearly doesn't stop them and frankly, if they fail to spot a bunch of fluoro coppers at a junction and get caught, they can't be relied upon to spot a ped crossing the road or a van or car about to squish them.
