Crank Length for SSCX?

Just wondering what the general consensus is for off road single speed.
There doesn't seem to be a recommended way of identifying it. Personally I prefer higher cadences but I dunnoo what to put on my Nature Boy.

Same as the roadie?
Slightly shorter?

I always rode dirt on 175 because that's what I had. My road bike has always been 172.5mm.

Lots of SSers go longer for more leverage but if you're comfy on the roadie I'd stick with that.

I had this assumption that you'd go shorter to avoid knocking roots, ruts and pedal strike?

If it's single speed as opposed to fixed you ride it as such. You flatten the cranks or drop the appropriate pedal when dodging stuff.

That's a bike fit topic that no one can state a true answer for. "Generally", shorter people will go for shorter cranks but that certainly doesn't hold true for everyone and isn't necessarily the best choice for everyone.

I find my 175mm arms too long - I am a cornerpedaller.

Thuekr your bb is quite low compared to a real sscx I suspect. 175 is fine on any mud type bike

im putting 175s on my new orlowski ss, gonna have 65mm bb drop
