Numerous reports on Twitter of a collision at the junction of Camden High Street and Delancey Street involving a PB Donoghue skip lorry (based on photos reportedly from the scene) and (reportedly) a female cyclist. Air ambulance has apparently attended.
Hoping it's not as serious as it first seems. Camden Council has tweeted to say that the road is closed and advice is being given to avoid the area.

:( I wish the cyclist and her loved ones well.
@richardosley is a local journalist who is Tweeting about this crash which is close to his office. -

Wish her well.

Just passed, tipper truck and bike still in the road
Police said lady cyclist, currently critical but she left in an ambulance rather than HEMS which is maybe a good sign. Fingers crossed.
Traffic's a mess and it looks like the road's going to be closed for at least a little while longer. Ride safe folks. -

It seems that a friend of mine saw this happen, from FB:
"My heart goes out to the poor female cyclist that just got run over on Camden High Street by a lorry, i'm so sorry that happened to you. Tragic, and heart-breaking and I'm pretty shaken up.
I would also like to mention my shock at the amount of people with camera phones that thought it was appropriate to get them out at a time like that. You disgust me.
And to all cyclists and motorists, please look out for each other!"
Thoughts with the cyclist.

Hope it's not too serious. That's always been a dodgy junction as a lot of cyclists are going straight on but the cycle lane is over on the far left with a left-turning traffic lane to the right of it. http://goo.gl/maps/hriNx

Yep another example of a cycle lane that cyclists should never use. Especially when..
“It was a woman on the bike. She was going along the High Street and the truck just turned into her as they went into Delancey Street. We saw her go under it and then scream. People quickly rushed to help and the first ambulance was here within three minutes.”
I avoid all cycle lanes in London for this very reason.
It's a fucking joke. You assume you are safe and then this. What to do?
Look over your shoulder every 10 seconds or more when you hear one of these behind you. -

Awful. I saw that truck earlier, steaming in to Camden, on Prince Albert Road.

Wishing the rider a quick recovery. I pass through that intersection daily. Can't say it is one of my favourites.

This is in the ES now with some pretty grim pictures of the bike

“The driver was in the cab. He opened the door and said ‘is she alright?’ and then he just closed the door. He looked as ill as she did really. He just had his head in his hands the whole time.”

Saw this on the local news on tv this morning, pictures were grim.

Oh man. Please survive this.

went past on my way out yesterday - horrific. how many more until something is done?

My heart goes out to the poor woman.
Another appalling junction layout. There is an ASL in lane one but any large truck would have to start in lane two to have enough space to turn.

^^ did exactly this last week - then crossover Camden High Street to otherside whilst it's clear of traffic. Thoughts are with rider and family - only taking this route as Parkway is a mare at the moment with roadworks. Saw a rider down there last week, being taken away on a stretcher, hope you're also ok.

I've just deleted numerous posts mentioning red light jumping as there is nothing to suggest the rider did and we have a whole thread dedicated to that argument

werd.

If you read the post that you deleted you would see that no-one suggested, implied or intimated that the rider down did jump the red light.
We were merely commenting that the design of this junction is such that one of the safest way to approach it is to jump the set of lights further south at Mornington Crescent.
But as you wish. -

.
It's the wrong place for this debate too.
Hoping for the best outcome - the reports say serious but stable, which is something, I guess.
Just picked this up on twatter:
