It sort of died down at one point...

yeah I guess. they're both good ones, thanks.
just looking for a word to describe that thing. like when people leave home or go travelling, young or old they like to carry a little something that reminds them of home. anyway, that'll do.Keepsake?

update on the house-measuring debacle for the edification of nobody in particular: Mrs Hell had the genius idea of tying a spoon to a piece of string and lowering it out the uppermost window and then measuring said string once it was reeled back in. this is why you should listen at school, kids.

Yes. The process of removing the old paint is slightly different and the price might likely reflect this but yes, you can. Armourtex have done a half dozen steel frames for me and one Alu frame. The aluminium one cost a tenner more.
Thanks!

Why a spoon? Surely the most valuable piece of cutlery. I'd have gone for a fork.

Risk assessment.

With road chainsets, does the furthest out chainring sit further away from the frame on a triple chainset than with a double?
-
• #52511
Normally, yes, which is why the Q factor is normally bigger with triples than doubles, and why the BB length is usually longer with triples.

wordy question:
is there a word for a keepsake/souvenir/charm type object that is carried while abroad/travelling to remind oneself of home/homeland? like talisman but without the magic overtones and specifically to do with carrying something from home. Not in English. The task at hand would be to either invent one or to look for such a word in another language and adopt it as a loan word. It's certainly an interesting idea. A homeme or a homemento or something. :)

I was thinking 'homesake'.

Do LMNH have a rotor BB tool?
-
• #52516
My Rotor track BB takes the standard Shimano/Campag tool, as does the BB30-BSA BB.
-
• #52517
This one?
-
• #52518
Oh shit yeah I've just noticed my silly ice tools BB tool just doesn't reach.

I've got a pair of brand new, never used 4ZA carbon track forks- what would be a reasonable price to charge for them?

I've just replaced a 250GB hdd with a 4TB one. Cloned it using dd and boots fine. However, it won't let me create another large partition of 3.75TB on the drive. I have to split it into 2 partition of 1.8TB and 1.7TB.
This is windows home server 2008, the same issue comes using gparted in linux.
Any ideas? -
• #52522
It may be sold as a 4TB but they are always slightly smaller, try creating a partition like 3.7
Hard drives gigabytes are 1000meg not 1024meg thats why drive capacity is smaller than advertised/sold
-
• #52523
It won't let me create anything bigger than 1.8TB. There appear to be two "partitions" of unallocated, contiguous space for some reason.
Ah, the solution may have occurred to me. It appears that when I dd'd the old drive to the new it set the partition style to MBR. Arse, there doesn't seem to be an easy way to convert a boot drive to GPT.

Looks a bit like a Token one:
… with a Chris King top cap. Don't know but it looks very generic Taiwanese (not that that's a bad thing).
Check out Cane Creek for nice black headsets though. The Forty is great but even the cheap Ten is a really good headset.

Windows Server Backup uses the .vhd format for writing backups. The current virtual hard disk specification limits the size of a virtual hard disk to be 2040 GB, which can fit a volume of size 2040 GB – 2 MB, (i.e., 2088958 MB). Windows Server Backup in Windows Server 2008 also limits the maximum source volume size to be 2088958 MB.
