Paddington to Moorgate..?

I do Euston Road, turn right at Kings X down to Farringdon, left along Old St, right at Old St RAB. (Alternative is to carry straight on at Kings X, over the hill and turn down City Road).

This is a busy, main route but the traffic is heading in the same direction so I find it suits me. Slower, skittish riders might want a quieter route.

I'm going to try the southern Embankment option for heading into the City too and see how it compares.

Euston road route is much better than the embankment which is more congested and harder to filter through the traffic, with the added confusion of the silly blue paint.
