And in case anyone was wondering about the story below the BFF one, it is about a new film by Zizek, a sort of celebrity postmodern marxist philosopher, who is doing a Q&A at Brixton Ritzy on Friday. I might go if anyone is interested.

The queue for a Zizek Q&A will be as mad as he is.

I was just reading an old interview with Jens Voight ( http://www.bicycles.net.au/2011/03/jens-voigt-interview-part-5-doping-and-the-uci/ ) and this caught my eye:
"*BNA: If you were the UCI President, would there be anything in cycling that you would change?
Voigt: Not an easy question because it is easy to blame somebody and it is easy to be unhappy with somebody, an organisation or even the world politics, but it’s a lot harder to have your own ideas and say I would do this and this.
The UCI also has cycle cross, mountain biking, indoor cycling and cycle polo. There are the juniors, seniors and ladies so there are a lot of fields to play on.*"
Seems like Jens reckons the UCI are into bike polo...

Well, he's referring to indoor polo, which is a long-established women's only sport. It's 2-on-2 and usually played in clubs for artistic cycling. It's described briefly in the '2er Radpolo' paragraph of the German Wikipedia article on bike polo:
https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radpolo
That sport is indeed sanctioned by officialdom.
I also just saw, in a link I followed, that in Germany there's a 5-on-5 league (see page 5 if you read German). I didn't know that before. It sounds as if this variant isn't played very often:

Radball!

No, it's not Radball, it's a form of bike polo played with mallets.

Maybe I'll click the links then.

Not so hasty. They're all in German.

On a plane to Dubai last month, watched a 10 minute clip on the LII, mostly presented and narrated by Erin. It was on one of the sports shows on their in-flight entertainment.
Then in a bar in Cannes last week, they were playing a sports channel on their plasmas, and what seemed like a half hour segment on French Bike Polo came on. Marc Sich was talking a lot, but I couldn't hear (or understand) what he was saying.

I guess a lot of people confuse Ireland in the 1890s with Ireland in the 1980s. I blame Enya and Sean Bean.
