Got a mountain bike I'd bought planning on taking it touring but am shifting towards doing my tour much lighter weight on my road bike.
On-One Inbred frame, Surly forks, full deore groupset with avid bb7 brakes, Thompson Stem and Post, 26" wheels.

Built from the frame up into a lovely comfortable ride,
Surly Long Haul Trucker 60cm touring frame and forks, a couple of years old, been used so expect some marks but nothing drastic
Hope sealed headset with canti hanger and loads of spacers to get your position just right
New Brooks B17 on a Thorn seatpost
Compact 44cm bars, Tektro levers with Shimano bar end shifters (9 speed but using on friction due 10sp cassette)
Shimano Deore chainset (MTB gearing) and front mech
105 rear mech with larger spread Sram 10sp cassette 11-32t
Hand built 36 spoke wheels, Shimano hubs onto durable Mach 1 rims
SKS cromoplastic full length mudguards
Brand new Schwalbe Marathon Plus 32mm
Tektro Oryx cantilever brakes
Blackburn rear rack has seen some action but solid enough
1 bottle cage mounted but room for 2 more -

sounds nice, where are you based? I would need to test ride I suppose and I am in cambridge. Pics and price would be very helpful also to see if it is worth my time to trek into london to see it! Also I should've mentioned I actually have a brooks myself so I wouldn't need the saddle.

I'm in croyde, North Devon. Just cycled it from here to Bordeaux but flew home and friend it driving it back next week. Can send photos next week only have photos now with me and panniers on it. Was serviced before ride and went perfectly. Without saddle i would want £675

damn... thing is i'm not sure about the sizing and coming that way for a test ride would be a bit of a mission. How tall are you?

I'm just under 6ft 2 but have seat up about 3-4" and using all the spacers on headset so could come down alot. Are you in a hurry to get a bike? When bikes back could send photos maybe meet a hour from here at Tiverton train station.

Sizing a 58 LHT it might be way too big if you're 5,10. I'm the same height, with 31" leg and have both a 52 and 54 inch LHT with 26" wheels. The LHT frames seem to be a size bigger than equivalent road bike.

I am 5'10''. That's a pretty big difference! Damn this is not going to be so simple as I hoped. I have until mid-november to sort myself out, so I'm not in a huge rush but Tiverton seems like it may be a long way to come and it sounds like it'll be too big. Thanks though!

I've got a completely modernised Dawes 531C fitted with 2x9 transmission (STI's)
Loads of new/almost new components, though it doesn't have direct braze on rack fitments I have new front & rear racks that will attach to the bike as good as.
I'm in Letchworth Garden City so not miles away.
I have it currently advertised on the CTC forum (though minus the racks in the price)
I'll PM you the details -

Ok Still looking, just to recap some specifics:
I'd rather bar end shifters on drop handlebars
I have a saddle
I am 5'10''
I have a front rack, which i will want to install. It is one that clamps on though, so does not require a boss.
I will also need a granny gear, as I will be doing steep gradients fully loaded.
Bottle cages/attachment points are also a bonus.
I can also supply my own pedals so I am not so fussed about that.Cheers!

i'm verging on buying one brand new at £1100 but I'd rather not spend quite so much money! but i really would like a nice bike
I'm looking for a good solid touring bike to take with me to NZ in november, as I have decided that my current bike may not be quite good enough. Surly LHT looks like a good popular bike. I am about 5'10'' and I would love a good fit. I will have front and rear panniers, as such I will require mounts for both, preferably with racks already. Let me know what you have!
