• Hehe. One of the pleasures of taking people around Hackney to show them the upsurge in cycling is that every kind of person cycles, and hipsters don't feature very prominently at all.

I counted bike riders tonight as I rode down to Old Street for an evening meeting, prompted by seeing a small group of six (who clearly didn't know each other and had merely agglutinated on the ride somewhere) right at the moment I turned the first corner from my house. I lost count at around 250 (counting everybody I saw, not only people going in one direction), at the St John's junction in Hoxton (Pitfield Street/New North Road/Fanshaw Street). This was within a ten-minute ride. It was good fun. I lost count when I momentarily couldn't decide which route to take, but saw another couple of dozen after that.
