I know there's people who think it's stupid to worry about weight on a pomp but it's my main bike. I do about 80 miles a week on it, every week, all year round. Don't think there's anything wrong with wanting to shed a bit of weight.
^This, for me. I do 15 miles a day at least on mine.
Lightweight(ish) cranks/BB and fork were my main priorities.
I totally get the parts-bin beater builds (if you can knock together a whole new bike from stuff you've got in the shed, go for it) but I had to strip a fairly high-spec MTB to build my Pomp and I already appreciated what nice parts can do for a well-designed frame.
The super-low price of the Pomp frame leaves more dough for nice parts - the tubing might not be high-end but I think the overall design is great, and worthy of really good components.
